It still tumbles just no heat. When I did mine, it was quite straightforward. I'm unable to find schematics online. Is it a common sense job or a nightmare? Thanks in advance Dominique. Apr 05, Rating sirocco turn on. NEW by: Anonymous hi there, you just load the clothes, close the door and turn the timer to your required drying time.
Also select full heat or half heat on the slide control next to the timer. If the dryer runs, check at back of dryer, if any air coming out the exhaust vent. Hope this helps. I can see there is a timer dial and a temperature slider, but there is no "On" button.

Feb 21, Rating Motor issues? NEW by: Anonymous hi there, It might all be caused by a broken or stretched fan belt. Remove long black plastic cover at back.
Hope it helps, Lance. Feb 20, Rating Motor issues? NEW by: Anonymous Hi there I have a Simpson , couple of days ago I noticed the dryer was making unusual noises, I placed hand on to the dryer, and it was very hot. Small amount of smell. Turned off, Tried again today started ok, working for 5 min then stopped. Won't start. Has the motor gone? Feb 12, Rating Fixed! I just transplanted the working parts from that dryer into mine and BAM!
She lives. Thanks for all your help Lance. I really appreciate this resource. If u buy from an appliance parts place, you pay about triple the price of ebay.
All Sirocco and Eziset range will fit on that same bracket. There is a flanged part along the edge of the motor, to hook the spring into. Stretch the spring out horizontally with dryer face down , from its mounting hole in the dryer body, and u will find the place for it, needs to be very stretched and tight.
Which wires go where, on the cap? Its been awhile since I worked on a Sirocco, can't picture it at the moment. Will all sirocco models , , fit on the same mount? I'm located in North Brisbane.
Where would you recommend I could go to find a replacement capacitor? Also I should have taken a photo , I cant remember how the wires were attached to the capacitor. I can see where the spring needs to attach to the floor of the machine, but I'm unsure of where it attaches to the motor in order to tension the pulley.
Thanks again Ron. That would have definitely been causing the starting problem. Do you have the drum removed from it now? Check condition of the fan belt, if cracked or split, replace it. Also u will need to clean around the heater element. Sometimes these can cause a problem from the built-up lint, makes a burning smell and sometimes smoking.
For the fan belt, if it fits very easily around both pulleys, then u need to replace it. They stretch and come off or break, after a few years. Cheap to replace it, cheap on ebay. Fitting another dryer to that mounting As far as i know, only Simpson Sirocco and older Simpson dryers can use that mounting. Later model Simpson, like Eziloader, has a different mount. Feb 12, Rating Needs help starting, Horrible screech sound. Not sure if this is what was causing the starting issue note: the dryer would start when given a push.
I assume the dust and sand was causing the sound. How do I know if either belt needs replacing? Also, as this is a rental property, and the mount is already bolted to the wall I do not want to have to bolt a new mount to the wall if I get a new dryer , will the mount for the Sirocco hold any other model of dryer?
Thanks Ron. Try lifting the dryer and pulling outward at the same time. They are prone to jamming onto the mounts. Check the fan belt, and also mb need to check the drum belt as well, take back panel off. Yesterday it wouldn't start when I closed the door. So I gave the drum a spin manually and quickly shut the door, and the dryer started up. So I turned it off. Are both symptoms caused by the same problem?
I tried to remove the dryer from the wall mount to inspect inside, but the right side seems to be fixed to the mount somehow.
Being a rental property, I don't want to cause any damage to the wall trying to muscle it off. Make sure the control panel is all working well. Lance in Brisbane. Feb 06, Rating Re: Re: Burn near reset button. It was very much appreciated. All the best! Feb 06, Rating Re: Burn near reset button.

We'll give it a try. See previous posts for how to replace it. All Sirocco use same fan belt and replace the same way. I think it's overheating; clothes aren't drying but it's very hot and cuts out after 10 minutes or so. The dryer is on a wall bracket against the wall, with no vent or ducting visible. Is the blocked vent responsible and is it therefore even worth getting repaired in its current position? There's also a broken fan in the ceiling which we need to get fixed.
Pls read some of the previous posts, cheap to fix it yourself. It is very hot suggesting overheating. It will only restart after 10 minutes after then pressing the red button. Can you diagnose the problem? Harry, Melbourne. Take off long black cover from back of dryer, replace belt. The heat is working No air coming from vent please help.
You need to remove the door switch assembly, which includes the red reset button as part of it, in that plastic housing. When u close the door, instead of the switch working, it only pushes the switch back. The is due to the mounting being broken. Mounting for the switch is part of the complete housing. Hope this helps, good luck. I have firmly pressed the reset button but it doesn't stay in and makes not difference. I have checked the belt at the back and while it might not be as tight as it could be it is still in place.
Have also double checked the powerpoint to be sure and that's fine. Nov 21, Rating lubricant for new spigot? Do I need to lubricate it? It may catch fire. The scraping maybe from something getting stuck between the drum and the rubbing surface or mb the rubbing pads at the front are worn to the metal. Or mb the rear bearing plastic , has broken.
The burnt smell will be from the lint around the heating element getting charred and ready to catch fire. Oct 06, Rating replacing lint filter holder NEW by: Anonymous hi there, Its called a spigot, and also its part of the rear drum bearing. It is not quick n easy to replace, as the dryer drum must be removed first, to work on it. Spigot is held in place by 2 or 4 small bolts, accessed from inside the back of the drum. Sep 25, Rating Drum belt fitting to pulley NEW by: Anonymous Put the drum belt on the small motor pulley, then fit the belt over the drum, then attach spring to motor and pull the motor around so that the idler pulley puts tension on the drum belt. Then hook spring into hole in dryer casing, at the seam. With the fan pulley, it needs to be stretched very tight to fit over the motor pulley and fan pulley. Sep 25, Rating Sirocco drive belt NEW by: Ray Is there a special way to put the drum belt on the white pulley A rough drawing would be great Do Hesse belts stretch and if so where can I purchase Thanks in advance.
Plenty of air flowing out of rear outlet. Will try to dismantle to check heater. Have a multi meter. If no air, then belt is off or broken. Other reason for no heat, could be failure of the heater element.
Would be worth dismantling and inspect all electrical terminals before buying a new heater. Also if u have a multimeter, you should check the old heater for continuity and earth leakage and resistance. Might be the heater element, but they do not often fail.
Now with belt still ok not heating. Any clues please? Try a new belt on it. Should need to be stretched really hard to fit on the 2 pulleys. Aug 31, Rating fan belt NEW by: Kerry Gday Lance ,we have a simpson sirocco ,the fan belt under the black cover at the back of the machine keeps coming off the two pulleys ,then we have all the problems overheating, etc any ideas cheers Kerry.
The , is 4. That is the max size in the Eziset or Sirocco range. The later Eziloader dryers had a big 6kg model. Easy fix, do it urself. Remove long black plastic cover on back of dryer. See previous posts for further details. Aug 26, Rating Possibly overheating NEW by: Lara Hi there, my series starts drying and then stops due to overheating we are thinking.
Do you know if this would be a costly fix??? Many thanks Lara. Aug 26, Rating Possibly overheating NEW by: Anonymous Hi there, my series starts drying and then stops due to overheating we are thinking.
Aug 09, Rating Remove the back panel Sirocco and Eziset models. Very easy when you know how. Thanks for your help. NEW by: Anonymous You first remove the lint filter and cover from inside the back of the drum.
This lint filter holder is actually the front part of the rear drum bearing. There is a little plastic tongue in the centre of the filter holder tube. Grab the tongue wuth long-nose pliers and pull forward about half-inch. This will enable the back bearing spigot to be relaesed from bush in the rear cover plate assembly.
Sometimes the back plate can still be a bit stuck, so I usually pull it up sharply from the bottom, to release it. I hope you can follow this, and can do the job. Normally with earlier Simpson Models it is no big deal to remove the back, disassemble the drum and drive belt to access the element.
However with the Sirocco there seems to be more to it to remove the back. Is there a trick to separating the back from the drum? For some reason, even with all the screw removed, I am unable to separate the back of the dryer from the drum at the rear bearing. Any suggestions? Aug 08, Rating sirocco not venting NEW by: Anonymous hi there, It is not venting most likely because the fan belt is broken.
Remove long black plasctic cover at rear of dryer. Belt will be stretched or broken. Filter is clean. Is their a way to clean thru the back ducting? Aug 04, Rating timer switch Mark NEW by: Anonymous hi there, You can buy them on ebay, a few sellers have them, just search sirocco timer, or eziset timer, same thing. Where would I source a new one?
It turns on the unit, just doesn't "time down". Jul 31, Rating Sirocco or Ezi set? They are pretty much identical internally.
Some of the Ezi set have slightly different motors, and different wiring and plugs, but basically very similar. In short, Ezi set is newer. Jul 31, Rating What's newer Sirocco or Eziset? Jul 21, Rating sir stop and smoking NEW by: Anonymous hi Kim, Most likely the fan belt has broken or stretched and come off the pulleys at the back. Remove long oval plastic cover. Belt is 5 to 10 bucks on ebay, can replace it yourself. But u mention the smoke. It probably has a buildup of lint around the heater element, that is starting to smoulder, thats the smoke.
It can catch fire. You need to remove the back metal panel, remove drum belt, remove drum. Clean away the charred lint and dust from the element. If you can do the work safely yourself, then its a cheap fix. I'm not recommending unqualified people work on electrical appliances, its up to you. It was making a squeaky noise the last couple of times I used it.
Then it stopped after about 10 minutes when I had set the timer for 60min. When I opened the door a bit of smoke came out. The machine is 10 years old. I do clean the lint filter religiously. Not sure if it can be repaired? Would it be worth getting a repair man out? Thanks, Kim from NSW.
By the time I got the timer out of the unit the light blue and brown leads at the bottom of the timer had come off and I'm not sure which lugs to connect these leads to. Do you have a photo of a Simpson with leads attached so I can reconnect the leads correctly? Thanks, Tony. Jul 09, Rating pressed red button NEW by: Anonymous Yes filter cleaned and no blockages, just makes a ticking noise, could it be belts.
It is located next to the motor, white small cylinder. Make sure u replace it with same value capacitor, I think its 8uf, but check on the item, it will be printed on the side. I have replaced the belt but machine still wont kick into action. If you turn the machine on and manually pull the belt it goes but will stop again when there is a change in direction. There is no abnormal noise coming from the machine and was working fine but has suddenly started doing the above.
Thus the change in belt as a first step to eliminating the list of possible causes. This will activate when the dryer overheats, due to the lint filter not being cleared, or due to the fan belt broken or loose.
If it starts again after resetting, check that air is coming out the exhaust duct at back. If no air, fanbelt broken.
See previous posts for replacing fanbelt, all Sirrocco and Eziset are the same process. Went to use again nothing. However, you can hear a slight ticking noise when it is turned knob is turned on to dry, but drum wont spin.
Thinking it could be a belt but before I take it off the wall and pull apart just wondering of any ideas. Jul 04, Rating Sir timer. NEW by: Anonymous Yes, thats ok to use your own timer. Its up to you if u want to use the warm setting for the last 30 min, i think 10 or 15 min would be plenty. Its not essential to do this, but may be advisable. How important is it to put the slide to half hot for the last half hour?
It was the capacitor. We are so happy you helped us fix it. Thanks very much. Jul 03, Rating sirocco not working upside down. NEW by: Anonymous hi there, Its a bit puzzling, as these dryers should work equally well upside down or not.
When upside down, is the air outlet at back blocked or restricted by anything? Check that you have plenty of air exhausting from the rear vent, which will be at the bottom when dryer is upside down. Just wondering if you would have any advice for the following issue My Simpson dryer works normally when up the right way, we recently wall mounted it and now it stops mid cycle usually after about 30mins so pulled it down and checked the belt thing behind the black cover which seems fine and tight.
We then semi took the back off and vacummed lots of dust and fine particles out from the bottom. However the dryer is still stopping when upside down and is very hot at the front just below the drumish. When it is upright it works perfectly fine???? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Its not real easy to fix the scraping. It requires removal of the heating element carrier from the dryer, and replacing of the worn plastic pads 6. Also look at the drum rubbing surface, on the rim. If its still very smooth, just leave it. For details on removing the back panel, and detials about refitting the drum belt, see previous posts. Good luck, be safe. Also the timer doesn't seem to move during usage though the machine does dry clothes. I am not sure what the slide from half sun to full sun denotes.
Jun 20, Rating sirocco stopped NEW by: Anonymous hi there, yes, It will probably be a weak starting capacitor. Make sure you replace it with the same value capacitor.
I think 7 or 8 uF from memory. If a give a small pull on the belt it will start working again until it changes direction. Then I have to pull on the belt again. There are slotted holes in the bottom of the backing plate.
Suitable mounting brackets are available now from various sellers, on ebay, or Bunnings has them. Jun 11, Rating wall mount NEW by: Anonymous Hi there, Are these units suitable to be wall mounted upside down so there is access to the controls? Jun 10, Rating sirocco stopped NEW by: Anonymous hi there, Hard to know what happened without taking apart and looking for the problem.
Are you in Brisbane? My Sirocco stopped working during a cycle. I can usually press the red button and it starts working again but this time it will not. There is no noise or movement in the machine.
Can you please let me know if you have an ideas on what is wrong? Jun 08, Rating sirocco stopping NEW by: Anonymous Most likely the fan belt is broken or come loose off the pulleys. Remove long oval black plastic cover off back of dryer. Most likely the remains of the belt will fall out. It needs to be stretched very tightly to fit over both pulleys.
Do it yrself, too easy. Why is it stopping? With the fan belt broken, there is no air circulating, so you will get overheating, red button thermostat pops out, all stop. By the time you reset it, it has cooled down a bit and will run for awhile before repaeating the same action. Jun 08, Rating dryer keeps stopping.. NEW by: Anonymous Hi I have a simpson sirocco and it seems to be overheating an turning itself off. I can recst it but within minutes of drying it stops May 31, Rating clean lint filter NEW by: Anonymous Open dryer door, see white plastic domed cover on rear of drum.
Pull cover outwards to remove it. Lint filter is attached to back of plastic cover. Pull off and clean thoroughly with brush, or use soap and water, and brush carefully not to damage it, then dry and replace it. Did u check inside the drum, at the front surface of the drum inside around the door?
If it feels hot, then the element is ok. Mb u didnt need to take off the back. Sometimes the fan belt breaks or comes loose, and then there is no air circulation, and u might think there is no heat. Because there will be no air coming out the vent at the back if this happens.
Anyway, to answer your question, u need to remove the steel complete back panel, then u will see the drum belt and spring.
Remove the spring. Then remove the drum from the dryer. You will see the heater element, and element carrier. Most likely there will be some burnt lint around the element and other lint inside the dryer. This should be cleaned out thoroughly, for safety. These elements can look fine, but sometimes they can fail and not show any outward signs.
Element should be checked for continuity, and also for resistance. May 30, Rating Sirocco heating element NEW by: Anonymous Hi, I have the back of my Simpson dryer off, what does the heater element look like and where is it?
The dryer was spinning but with no heat. My belt is very loose with no visible method to tension??? Looking at your photos, the tensioning spring looks very wrong as others have mentioned. You say you replaced the belt with one the same size as the original. Is it possible the original belt had stretched and you really need a smaller belt? Was going to ask the same thing mtv Either that or did they actually supply the correct one?
It's hard to tell from the crappy pictures you attached, but I'd say the spring is NOT supposed to be on the motor - does the idler pully move at all?? Here's an exploded parts pict and it shows the idler on a hinged arm What about running the right hand side of the belt around the tensioner and not the left side as per your diagram. I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message Dryer belt Hi Guys, Thanks for all your suggestions. So, as I have said that this problem is driving me batty.
The dryer was revolving with the old belt but not heating, hence the reason for stripping it down to source the problem.
Could not really find the problem but replaced some components and undertook a full clean. I have the full model number of the drier which was used to order the replacement belt. If the belt is routed outside of the idler pulley, as it has been suggested, the belt is even looser. The parts diagram provide by the looks shows an idle pulley which would operate under tension whilst mine has a motor solidly attached to the casing with the idler pulley firmly attached to the motor. So where does the belt tension come from???
As far as I can see the spring on my machine does not function to provide any tension. In the back of my mind is the thought that I am missing the trees for the forest and should the belt be elastic to provide the tension??!! Hope it helps. You can reset the fuse by pressing the red button labelled safety reset located inside the dryer just under the door handle. If the drum then turns but no air is coming through the vent, it means that the belt linking the drum and the fan is either broken or slipped off the pulleys.
Remove the dryer from its attachments e. Remove the dark gray plastic covering from the back of the machine. To do this unscrew the two screws which are on the left lower end of the plastic covering and then slip the covering away from the metal holding tab at the the other end.
If it is intact, just carefully replace it so that it is around the two pulleys in the groove of each pulley so when one pulley turns it turns the other one by rotating the belt. Then replace the plastic cover by slipping the end under the metal tag on the upper right side of the pulley arrangement and replace and tighten the two screws in their correct holes. Place the dryer back on its wall holder or wherever it was. Obviously if the belt is broken it needs to be replaced Stephen January Is there a diagram on replacing drum belt on sirocco wayne December Hi, It most likely the belt that drives the drying drum is broken.
